Studio Journal: Painting Progress

I've decided to paint this photograph of myself happily eating noodles. I always kept this photo around, probably as a constant reminder that I was such a happy kid. It makes the pains of growing up a little lighter when you can look back on your mini self and smile. I began painting an old photo of my roommate and good friend, Kelly, and have yet to figure out how to "funkify" the image. I spoke with my professor, Wendy White, and she is quite proud of my progress and admires the fact that I take suggestions and criticisms well and apply it to improve my work. I am trying to do more (conceptually and stylistically) in one singular painting instead of doing a bunch of fairly similar ones. (I did alot of collage desserts and foods in the first half of the semester, kind of boring)...So now, I want my paintings to have more depth in terms of concept, color range, texture range, and also scale. I plan to paint HUGE when I tack down what I really want to investigate for thesis. I feel I could explore more than one topic, but approach it all in the same way, with my intact style, paint stroke, and concept/planning process.

Top 2 Paintings:
1: Ice Cream, Acrylic on Canvas
2. Landscape 1, Acrylic on Canvas
